Tell us a little about yourself:

I live in Kansas City, originally from central Kansas…married with three furry children (two golden retrievers and a cat). My educational background is in psychology, and I worked with kids as a therapist for a handful of years before switching over to a role that has much less heartache in my day to day job – dealing with computers/software which is what I do now.

I am a music lover – you’ll rarely catch me without headphones in, jamming to tunes out and about. I sing in the Kansas City Symphony Chorus, and love going to concerts of all kinds.

I still call myself a runner because I do love running, though these days I lift more than I run. Distance running got me into fitness and I am forever grateful to having discovered a love for it. I’ll keep that 26.2 sticker on my car until someone pries it off, lol.

The official questionnaire:

Q. What inspires you?

A. I’m a “helper” at heart, and am passionate about helping people accomplish things through learning, guidance and accountability that they may not have been able to accomplish on their own. I love learning and passing that learning on to others so that their lives can be made easier or more fulfilling.

Q. Share one thing no knows about you or would never guess.

A. Most people that know me, know that I am a huge softie for animals/living things.
But, I am sure few know the lengths this goes to…I literally refuse to kill spiders in my house. I feel so bad! I think of their poor spider families that would miss them (LOL). I trap them in a cup and let them go outside, hahaha.

Q. How did you find out about IIFYM? How long have you been doing IIFYM?

A. I have been tracking macros for about 4 years now. I found out about it by chance…was following a workout program that came with a meal plan, and I was annoyed at the meal plan. I thought, “Well why do I have to eat these specific things? Can’t I make swaps for things that have the same general nutrition?” It just seemed logical to me. And after some research, realized that this was already a thing called iifym/flexible dieting. And then it just went from there, where I started learning everything I could.

Q. What is some good advice you have received?

A. The best advice I have gotten is how to tackle something you want to accomplish that seems so impossible, you’ll never get there. When you have a goal or thing that you want to achieve, break it down into small chunks, and attack each chunk. Sometimes, we get overwhelmed by the big picture, and things can feel really unattainable and completely out of the realm of possibilities to achieve. If you break these things out into steps, and just focus on one at a time, you’re less likely to have that “stuck” reaction that keeps you from making any progress.

Q. Any life goals you want to share?

A. I don’t have any specific crazy aspirations of grandeur – just want to fill my life with positive experiences and help others do the same.

Q. What inspires you about coaching?

A. Our physical and mental health is going to have a profound impact on our lives, either positively or negatively. By helping others get to a healthy place with their bodies and their feelings about themselves, that is going to trickle down to making every other aspect of life that much better. I am really passionate about teaching, guiding, and providing the accountability a person needs in order to live their very best life.
