December Member of the Month

Yesenia Carrera currently lives in Las Cruces, NM. She’s a stay at home mom and one of her favorite things to do is go to the gym. It provides a nice break from mom life.  She loves her children. She has two boys, ages 4 and 6 and a 1 year old princess who keeps her running around all day. Since the birth of her daughter, she’s lost 30 lbs, has gotten stronger and more confident in and out of the gym!

She says, “I learned about IIFYM through Coach Yese, we know each other from college days.  I tried IIFYM and loved it! For the past 7 years I have been either pregnant or nursing. Before macros, I had tried calorie counting but I kept getting headaches from not eating enough. Coach Yese helped me calculate numbers that were appropriate to lose weight while breastfeeding.  I loved that by hitting my macros, I lost weight and didn’t get headaches.  

My gym time is limited and I have been doing Strong Lifts 5×5.  This is the second time I start counting macros, the first time was after my second child and now again after my third. During pregnancy of my third I didn’t count. I gained a lot of weight and didn’t lose it all, but now with macros I am back at my initial weight. 

I would recommend my coach Yese! I love to talk to her about nutrition and fitness. I know for some talking about it might feel uncomfortable, but she provides me a no judge zone where I feel safe and comfortable talking about anything.

“For anyone having doubts I say just try it!”

My goal is to eventually have abs! Now that I lift, I love my arms. Before macros when I lost weight, my arms were not as strong or fit as they are now. I love macros, lifting and getting strong!

For anyone having doubts I say just try it! For me within a week I noticed my stomach was less bloated, but actually seeing the scale move takes time and yes weigh everything and document everything you eat. Even when you have days you go over, document it. 

 If you find it difficult then start with the same meals and keep it simple as you get more comfortable then you can start doing recipes etc. Also enjoy life while you lose weight… balance your meals. 

I love how the IIFYM Women Facebook group is so supportive! Everyone is always willing to answer questions.

When my family members see me eating pizza or cake. They ask me what about your macros? I just tell them it fits and that everything is planned and calculated.”
